Founding concept : 2016
The non-profit organization "Raum für Kunst e.V." / - Collective was founded in October 2016 in Berlin by Inga Ivanova and Mathilda Augart with the initiative to secure creative spaces, support their preservation and development, and thus stimulate and represent the interests of artists and those interested in art and culture.


Development phase I : 2017 - 2019
In January 2017, the association took over the project space "Modular+Space" on the 8th floor of the Greenhouse artist house in Tempelhof.

The exhibition and event space provided opportunities for both young and established artists to showcase their talents to a wide audience, connect with each other, and promote cultural diversity in the contemporary art scene with a focus on sound, visual, and performative arts through a recurring program.


Development phase II : 2019 - present
Following a relocation in 2019 to the former site of the "Royal Fireworks Laboratory" on Eiswerder Island in Berlin, the project expanded through the rental and renovation of studio spaces. The two separate warehouse units totaling 1100 m² house 21 studio rooms, a residency program for national and international artistic projects, as well as a project space.

The emerging project space, under the direction of "Raum für Kunst e.V.", was renamed "Backsteinboot" and continues to serve cultural work in the public sphere as well as the implementation of art and cultural events for local artists and collaboration with external collectives.

This includes visual arts, sound art, performative presentations, electroacoustic concerts, workshops, and talks.

The 22000 m² industrial courtyard area, surrounded by water and nature, also offers outdoor spaces available for the implementation of artistic projects.

Entwicklungskonzept : Gründungskonzept : 2016
Der gemeinnützige “Raum für Kunst e.V. “ / - Kollektive wurde im Oktober 2016 in Berlin von Inga Ivanova und Mathilda Augart mit der Initiative gegründet, Schaffungsplätze zu sichern, deren Erhalt und Entwicklung zu unterstützen und somit das Interesse des Künstlers und des Kunst & Kultur Interessierten anzuregen und zu vertreten.


Entwicklungs Phase I : 2017 - 2019
Im Januar 2017 übernahm der Verein den Projektraum “Modular+Space “ in der 8 Etage des Künstlerhauses Greenhouse, Tempelhof. 

Die Ausstellungs- und Veranstaltungsfläche ermöglichte jungen und etablierten Künstlern ihre Talente vor einem breiten Publikum zu präsentieren, sich untereinander zu vernetzen und kulturelle Vielfalt der Zeitgenössischen Kunstszene mit Schwerpunkt auf Klang, Bildende und Performative Kunst mit einem wiederkehrenden Programm zu fördern.


Entwicklungs Phase II : 2019 - present
Nach einer Umsiedlung im Jahr 2019 in das ehemalige Denkmal des "Königlichen Feuerwerkslaboratoriums" auf der Eiswerder Insel in Berlin erweiterte sich das Projekt durch die Anmietung und den Umbau von Atelierflächen. Die beiden separaten Lagerflächeneinheiten mit insgesamt 1100 m² beherbergen 21 Atelierräume, ein Residenzprogramm für nationale und internationale künstlerische Projekte sowie einen Projektraum.

Der darin entstehende Projekt Raum Dieser entstehende Projektraum, unter der Leitung des "Raum für Kunst e.V.", wurde in "Backsteinboot" umbenannt und dient weiterhin der kulturellen Arbeit im öffentlichen Raum sowie der Umsetzung von Kunst- und Kulturveranstaltungen für ansässige Künstler und der Zusammenarbeit externer Kollektiven.

Dies umfasst bildende Kunst, Klangkunst, performative Darstellungen, elektroakustische Konzerte sowie Workshops und Talks.

Das von Wasser und Natur umgebene 22000 m² große Gewerbehof Areal bietet zudem Freiflächen, die der Umsetzung künstlerischer Projekte im Außenbereich zur Verfügung stehen.
